Sawston Utd : Terry Wiilson Memorial Trophy. match

Fine start in the Terry Willson Trophy.

The players made a fine start to this seasons Terry Willson Memorial Trophy campaign by defeating Sawston Utd 6-1 in this 1st round tie. However, the game was not as one sided as the score may suggest, particularly in the first half. Early in the game Gt Shelford siezed the initiative by scoring in the second minute. But Sawston with the wind at their backs battled back into the game by regularly getting the ball behind the Shelford back line and eventually taking their chance to score a deserved equiliser. Half time arrived with the score at 1-1.

The second half saw a very determined Gt Shelford gradually take control of the game playing some very fine passing football in the process. To their credit, Sawston never gave up but Shelford looked sharper as the game progressed and scored five further goals to make the final score 6-1.

The manager used 14 players today and with a further 4 absent through injury the squad seems to be taking shape
